Welcome to 2nd Grade!

We have a lot of fun in Second grade.

We learn many new things in 2nd grade. We start the year learning addition and subtraction and work our way up to two digit addition and subtraction. We also work with telling time, measurement, and the beginnings of multiplication.

In October we learned all about pumpkins and even made pumpkin pie in a bag! We looked at how pumpkins are different and each student wrote a story about a pumpkin. The stories turned out great. We went to show our chapel buddies our neat handwriting.

In December we will begin looking at Christmas around the world. We have been looking at the first Thanksgiving. In math we are learning to add and subtract two-digit numbers using mental math. We have been working with the long vowel sounds in reading and spelling.

This year the 100th day of school and Kansas Day are on the same day! We looked at several different way to make 100 and celebrated being 100 days smarter! We have looked at some of the history of Kansas and will begin looking at other states for our state project in the coming week.

We are looking forward to an exciting Spring!
